WHAT TO EXPECT Pictures are priceless, especially when they capture the real you. Our portrait sessions are not like other pictures you might have had taken, they are creative, classic, moving and real. And truly on your child’s schedule in a relaxed and stress free environment for both you and your family. Whether photographing the inherent beauty of the pregnant form, the joy of a newborn in a parent's arms, or the unique interaction of a family, let First Moments Photography capture life’s intimate moments. We begin with a pre-session consultation, either by phone or studio, in which the session is planned and tailored for you. During this appointment, we'll discuss the purpose of the session and will help you select the appropriate attire and location for the session. Your portrait session begins with a casual and relaxed environment, whether in the studio or on location. Your session is never rushed; we allow plenty of time for changes, snacks and feedings. Typically, your session is the only session of the day, allowing us to work around your schedule and that of your children. Your Life, Your Images...
Capturing life’s intimate moments... This is what a session at First Moments Photography is all about, capturing life’s first moments…one photo at a time. We’ll take as much time as we need to create beautiful portraits, and to ensure that you all have an enjoyable and positive experience. During your photo session, as a mother, not just a photographer, I strive to find that connection with your child, the one where they forget the camera and just have fun being themselves. This is where natural expressions and life’s intimate moments are captured when everyone feels free to be them selves. I strive to capture tender photos of your children that are not conventional, posed portraits. You’ll never hear me ask your child to smile, or say cheese. Rather, you'll find me playing silly games, making faces and having conversations with your child(ren), to evoke true emotions and genuine smiles. We kindly ask the session fee be paid within one week of scheduling your session to reserve your session date and time. We request 24 hours notice should you need to reschedule, your session fee will be applied to your rescheduled session. If your child is sick, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule. Even if your child is in a good mood, runny red noses and teary eyes are hard to hide and we want the photographic experience to be positive for everyone. On the day of your session please allow at least two hours. We ask that just one parent come to the session unless both parents are to be photographed with the children. Please do not bring personal assistants, grandma, nannies or friends unless approved by the photographer. And only siblings who are to be photographed need to be present. Quite simply, Danielle would like to focus all attention on your child and with limited space; the distractions can limit the success of the portrait session. We ask that you please honor this policy. The studio reserves the right to use the negatives and/or reproductions for display, publications or other purposes. Here are a few tips to help you make a wonderful lasting portrait: Clothing is an important factor in a portrait. Simple clothing is usually best, and comfortable is a must! The more complex the outfit the more likely it will be out of place in the photo. You want the eye to be drawn to your faces and not the outfits. Choosing 2 - 3 main colors is the best bet. As a rule of thumb, put light colors together and dark colors together. Mid tones can go with dark or light. Khaki looks great with black shirts. And jeans look great with white shirts. Stick with solid colors, no stripes or patterns please. Avoid bold stripes and patterns as they complete with your family for attention. Patterns do not photograph well, and often times distract the viewer's eye away from the more important subjects (like your smiling faces!) If you have young babies and toddlers to be photographed, please bring in toys and books they like so I can use them engage your child and capture their true personality. For groups, try to coordinate. You don't have to match by any means, but please keep everybody in the same color tone. Pick a color theme (such as earth-tones or pastels) and choose everyone's outfits from that theme. Avoid bold stripes and patterns. If everyone does not have appropriate shoes, barefoot may be better, especially with outdoor shots. Make sure everyone in the family is in the same tonal range, meaning don’t have four people in black and one in yellow. Keep jewelry simple. It is best to remove watches. Keep in mind that socks and shoes may be seen in the photographs, depending on the pose and the angle of the camera, so please don't forget about them. Just remember, the better coordinated the wardrobe, the more unity the final photograph will have! Feel free to bring changes of clothing or several different choices per person and I will be happy to help you select which will photograph best. Lastly, be ready to have some fun! We look forward to meeting you! |
